Suspense on the Screens

When United International Pictures prepared to launch Jurassic World: Rebirth in 2025, they wanted more than just billboards. They turned to Ocean Outdoor to create a bold, interactive campaign in the Netherlands, aiming to capture the thrill of the movie and bring it directly to the streets. Ocean Outdoor imagined a playful twist. What if standing in the right spot could trigger something unexpected? They wanted to transform their large-format screens into moments of suspense and surprise, and to make this happen, they asked us to engineer the digital backbone of the activation.

Bringing the Scare to Life

The challenge was to marry large outdoor screens with depth-sensing cameras so that the experience would feel seamless. As people walked by, the screen offered glimpses into the film’s world, catching the eye of curious passersby. But the real magic began when someone paused in just the right spot, the cameras instantly recognised their presence and triggered a sudden jump as a dinosaur lunged toward the viewer.

This activation rolled out across shopping malls in the Netherlands, sparking surprise, laughter, and a few startled jumps. People stopped, played, and shared the moment, turning a casual encounter with a digital billboard into a memorable brand experience. By blending cinema with street-level interaction, we helped Ocean Outdoor and United International Pictures amplify the movie launch in a way traditional advertising couldn’t. The campaign didn’t just advertise Jurassic World: Rebirth; it made people feel it.
